Admission Requirements
All Students Must Be Rising 11th & 12th Grade Students and Residents of Mecklenburg County. Complete correct coursework per grade level requirements. Detailed information is below. Have a current unweighted GPA of 2.8 or higher OR an unweighted GPA of 2.5 with a qualifying test score(s).
RISING 11TH AND 12TH GRADE STUDENTS MUST HAVE PASSED THE FOLLOWING COURSES BY THE END OF THEIR 10TH GRADE YEAR:
o NC Math I (Algebra I)
o NC Math II (Geometry)
o English I
o English II
o Biology
o Health/PE
RISING 12TH GRADE STUDENTS MUST HAVE PASSED THE FOLLOWING COURSES BY THE END OF THEIR 11TH GRADE YEAR:
o 10th grade requirements listed above and additionally:
o English III
QUALIFYING TEST SCORES DESCRIPTION
(1) a current unweighted GPA of 2.8 or higher OR
(2) unweighted GPA of 2.5 with qualifying test score(s). Qualifying test scores include:
Pre ACT – English 18, Reading 22, Math 22
ACT – English 18, Reading 22, Math 22
PSAT – Reading 26, Writing 26, Math 24.5 OR Reading/Writing 460, Math 510
SAT – English 480, Reading 480, Math 530
CPCC Rise Test - 70 or higher on Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III
Important Note:
Students may submit a combination of test scores from different exams to meet the qualifying requirements (e.g., English from the ACT and Math from the SAT). Please just ensure you follow the submission instructions below.
Program Expectations:
Students must maintain a 2.8 unweighted GPA (or 2.5 with Accompanying Test Scores) to remain eligible for the Middle College program. Students who fall below the GPA requirements will be reassigned to their home school prior to the start of the academic year.
